One of the questions that many people have these days is that, is it possible to replace iPhone 12 camera? which means by any chance if the camera is damaged, you will have to go to an apple store or an apple authority repair centre to repair the camera?
Apple started to stop 3rd party repairs from iPhone 5s.in iPhone 5s we could not change a fingerprint. from that day to today we can’t replace a fingerprint. The reason is one fingerprint for one CPU.
With the fingerprint, they started an IC called EEPROM. This EEPROM types come with their irreplaceable parts called to read and write, read-only, write-only, one time write-only. For those that cannot be transferred, one time write only EEPROM type is given. Once they have written the id, no one can see the id so it cannot be replaced by another. Currently, they use one time to write IC for face id and fingerprint only.
So, after the iPhone 12, we will have to go to the apple-store to change the camera for the iPhone 12? If that happens it will be too expensive. Currently, if you repair the camera in the iPhone 7 plus from an outside shop it will cost around $66. Twice as in apple-store. Imagine if the same goes with the iPhone 12 camera?
We already know that Apple has “one time write only EEPROM” only for fingerprint and face-Id. And there are more EEPROM in iPhone such as NAND EEPROM and Baseband EEPROM which are allowed us to repair because those are ‘’read and write type EEPROM.
So, is there any common issues in iPhone 12?
People assumed that there will be an irreplaceable camera on iPhone 12. Well! Good news is, that’s not true! iPhone 12 camera is coming with ‘’read and write’’ EEPROM. Just like the battery. So, if anything happened to the iPhone 12 camera, we can repair it without going to apple-store.
